June 2017 – A “Slight” Delay

Those of you who read last month’s Soapbox were probably expecting to read an update on our progress with the Ranger II in this one.  The progress we were expecting and the news we were hoping to report has once again been deferred to next month.  I share your disappointment and ask that you not lose hope in our ability to deliver this long-awaited product reintroduction; I will state unequivocally that we are one month closer to our shared goal.

Like virtually everyone else in our industry, we have seen a softening of demand for our products (which has had no impact on our product development budget/efforts).  Fortunately, the decline in the rate of incoming orders for NAA has been fractional to what others are reporting for a variety of reasons, many of which I outlined in the March ’17 Soapbox, and we continue to enjoy a modest backlog.  It’s not only possible but likely that some in our industry will not survive as we transition to a new “normal”.  While it’s unfortunate for some, this change in our industry and landscape simply reflects the ordinary passage of time and lies at the heart of capitalism – survival of the fittest/most competitive.

While a lot of uncertainty exists in the firearms industry, and notwithstanding my aversion to sticking my neck out and making promises I can’t keep, I give you my assurance that NAA will be one of the industry’s survivors AND that when we’re ready to unveil the Ranger II, you will feel that it was well worth the wait.  That’s my story …

Enjoy your summer.

  1. Thank you for your meager info/status or lack there of on Ranger II.
Please enlighten us as to the problems/issues you are facing in Ranger II production.
Thank you in advance for your response.

  2. I added a SS sling swivel stud to the butt of my 22 short. I now have a lanyard attached to my belt and carry the pistol smartly in that cute watch pocket of my jeans. The swivel stud added the extra length needed for my middle finger to hold on to when I shoot Remington high velocity ammo.

  3. NAA 6:7-8 “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a breaktop mini; and his name was Ranger II, and all Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over a quarter of the earth, to fill pockets, and safes, and shoeboxes of the earth.”

  4. Thank you, Sandy, for the update and your friendly and informal honesty, as well as your commitment to the quality we all want. Sometimes the wait is the best part, and we look forward to being impressed with the new Ranger.

Note – there is a discussion in the blog regarding suitability and strength of stainless that it would be great if you had a knowledgeable person advise us.
    Thank you!

  5. And you’re sticking to it… Thanks for the update. Wish I could speak for everyone, but I’ll buy the Ranger II when it’s available. I’m glad for the temporary reprieve Trump has given us, but I know it’s really rocky for the gun industry. Keep plugging and we’ll keep buying! Thanks!

  7. In-other-words, the rush of sales in the firearms industry, created by the greatest gun salesman in the world, Barry Soetoro is now over. This is the one way that Trump is not greater than Obummer. : (
